LED High Bay Lighting
Mains-powered LED high bay lighting for warehouses, workshops, factories and other large industrial and commercial buildings — suspended fittings designed to light wide floor areas from high ceilings.
What High Bay Lighting Is For
High bay fittings are used where the ceiling sits roughly five metres or more above the floor. At that height an ordinary fitting spreads its output too thinly to give usable light at working level, so high bay lamps concentrate a high lumen output downward and are spaced across the ceiling to give even coverage. Replacing older metal halide or fluorescent high bays with LED typically cuts running cost substantially and removes the warm-up delay those technologies need after switching on.
UFO High Bay Lights
The UFO format is the round, compact high bay — named for its shape. It concentrates the driver and heatsink into a single disc, which makes it lighter and easier to suspend than older rectangular fittings and simpler to space evenly across a grid. The 150W fitting suits general warehouse, workshop and production floor lighting.
Where High Bay Lighting Is Used
Typical applications include factories and production workshops, warehouses and logistics buildings, indoor sports halls and stadiums, airports and forecourts, large retail spaces and public buildings — anywhere with a high ceiling and a large floor area to cover.
Planning an Installation
Three things decide how many fittings a building needs: the mounting height, the light level required at floor level, and the beam angle of the fitting. A warehouse aisle and a production bench have very different requirements, and spacing that works at six metres will leave dark patches at ten. If you are lighting a full building rather than replacing individual fittings, it is worth working the layout out properly before ordering rather than matching the count of what was there before — LED output per fitting usually differs from what it replaces.
Choosing a High Bay Light
- Suited to ceilings of roughly five metres and above
- UFO format for lighter weight and simpler suspension
- Mains powered — not a 12V or 24V vehicle fitting
- Consider mounting height, target light level and beam angle together
